Bicester Wetland Reserve Saved.

We have had some great news!
The result of the consultation on which route to take for the proposed new road has been released- They have gone for Route 2 which is the one we wanted as this option misses
the Wetland Reserve and goes across open country.

Please pass on a MASSIVE THANK YOU to Oxford birding blog users and OOS members who filled in their forms and voted for option 2 , there were 525 responses and 62%
"strongly support"  or "tend to support" Option 2.

Now the Option 2 route will be "safeguarded" i.e. can't be built on etc. and if they get the money that's where the road will be built.

So for once and because lots of birders, the RSPB, BBOWT and members of the public made their voice heard, wildlife is protected.

Thanks once again

Kind Regards

Alan Peters (reserve warden).

  1. Excellent news! Congratulations to everyone who signed the petition and to the planners for actually listening to the public's concerns. Whilst not all development projects will have such a happy ending for wildlife, this goes to show that sometimes we can make a difference.
