YELLOW BROWED WARBLER found this afternoon by Ian Smith.
After a 3 hour wait it called and showed for thirty seconds at 1838 then at c18:45 it was seen to fly high south (per Ewan, Mark Merritt, Leo Bateman).
Still present 15:30 though mobile and elusive (per Badger, Lew, Clackers).

CONVOLVULUS HAWK MOTH- Very large migrant from Africa with a 12cm wing span. Feeding on Petunia in garden using its long proboscis on and off between 19:30-21:30. Seen on the south coast but probably a real rarity in Oxon. 21:00.

Farmoor Res 13th September
Two Common Snipe seen on the causeway today was a unusual record. The only other time that I have seen Snipe here was on 29th November 2010 when both Jack and Common Snipe were seen.
