Probable 2 Dunlin: Two small waders on muddy fringes of river bank upstream from the Perch. Presume they were dunlin but not in summer plumage. Clear view of white wing bars and side of rump as they flew off. 15:00.

1s BALTIC GULL - a different individual to the previous one, with this one having arrested its moult pre-migration and retained a worn first-generation p10, whilst replacing p1-9 with fresh jet black feathers with rounded tips. The tail is also replaced.

9 Egyptian Goose: 2 adults/7 juv. Egyptian goose family update. On the river bank opposite Perch landing stage amongst a large group of greylags so hard to spot them all. Also difficult to tell goslings from adults as they have grown so much, all with adult plumage. Good to see they have survived this far! 16:00.

Farmoor Reservoir
Due to an outbreak of Covid-19 Thames Water have closed the reservoir for much of this week.
Above are details of when it is open and when it is not.
There is a strict security check on the gate to the main car park with each car registration being noted in and out and you will only be allowed in before 1400hrs on Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday and Saturday if you are a member of the yacht club, attending a sailing class or are otherwise expressly authorised.
All others will be refused entry and turned away. Over a 100 cars have been turned away today, Monday
Please also check the closing times of the reservoir as these will vary depending on the sailing classes
The above times may change as the situation is being reviewed daily but for the moment that is what is being adhered to.
There is currently no news on what may happen from Sunday 25th July onwards.

1s Baltic gull - full set of jet black replaced primaries enables separation of Baltic gull from intermedius at at this time of year, as they follow a different moult strategy. This is the only age class where they are acceptable as vagrants. See Altenburg 2011 paper for other ID features
