30 Brambling: In a large mixed flock of finches (several hundred) in the fields to the north of the Alder trees by the the rectangular irrigation pond on the left hand side at the south end of the drive. A few also in the shelter belt south of the maize maze field. Numbers of birds were impossible to count with many in trees and dispersed over several fields so 30 Bramblings is probably an big underestimate. Other species Linnet 100-200, Chaffinch 100-200, Siskin 10s, Goldfinch 10s. SU432970. 14:00.

Belated report of a Kittiwake.

It was found by a Canal Warden near the Oxford canal just north of Shipton on Cherwell last Monday 21st February.

The bird was alive when found but was in an exhausted state. There was no evidence of any injury that we could see. Unfortunately it did not survive .
