Banbury 06th December

Six Waxwings on Highlands at 10:10, near to junction for Harlequin Way. Only there for 5 minutes and they flew south. Stayed for an hour to see if they came back but they didn't. Whilst there I was entertained watching 2 Fieldfares very strongly trying to defend the berry trees from 3 Redwings, 10+ Blackbirds and 30+ Starlings. There are good numbers of House sparrows in the area and I estimated 50+. Was surprised to see 2 Great Spotted Woodpeckers there (2 males). There was also a Jay foraging on the roadside verge and a Buzzard went over.

Searching the nearby roads there was no sign of the Waxwings.
