3rd October Port Meadow

Probable BLACK KITE flew south from the southern end of Port Meadow, roughly following the river at around 8 am this morning. About buzzard sized with small neatly notched tail, paler V mark on inner wings, no paleness to the head and none of the extra long wing with the "floppy wrist" that a Red Kite has. Immaculate bird with no moulting.

UPDATE
See again early evening near Medley Farm though ID still not confirmed. It seems to be hanging around near the southern end of the Meadow between Walton Well Road and the bridge over the river.
