This bird has been here weeks. It is flying around so, presumably, has finished its moult and is now fully winged. Presume it will migrate - unless it's the drake that wintered here a couple of years ago, sporting this plumage before moulting into breeding plumage. Need to read up (again!).
They really are fabulous little ducks in every plumage.
