Standlake Pit 60 2 Pintail: New in, though not first of autumn. 15:33. 2 Great White Egret 15:33. 9 Goosander: 4 m 5 f. 15:33. 2 Snipe: On east shore. 15:33. Yellow-legged Gull: 2w. With 10 LBBs. 15:33.
Although goosanders can be seen at any time, they are mostly seen towards the late afternoon and up to dusk. It's possible they roost on the pit but goosanders often feed at night too ( as you probably know!). Pit 28 on shifford lane is last pit on right before turning left over wooden foot bridge for north hide. P28 must be viewed through gate from footpath but it can be good for goosander (and other diving ducks) because it's deeper.
I went to Standlake today the one with the two hides. Is there a different lake please?
ReplyDeleteNo. That's the one. A hide on the north shore and a hide on east shore
ReplyDeleteOh I didn't see half what you did. Went to see the Goosander but didn't see any. Must have left too early. Well done for your finds
