  2. Sorry. marked on?
But the pits are between Sutton Courtenay and Appleford on the B4016.

    1. Sorry, that was meant to be 'E Bird' . On Google maps it is the square pit just above two smaller triangular pits just below Appleford. They are close to the B4016 but actually on a tarmac track heavily used by refuse lorries going to the dump. I am greatly confused by the pits in this area. There are the three churchmere pits behind the church in Sutton courtenay, to the right of these there are two rectangular pits on the b4016 ( one marked as a hotspot on E Bird which do not exist, they are working gravel extraction or filling in pits. Then there is a long rectangular pit next to Appleford Station

  3. Ah ok, I think the pit with the regular refuse lorries is known as the 'spit pit' and is close to the level crossing, there did used to be a couple of large water filled pits for many years at the Sutton Courtenay end of the works, but they have been filled in.
As you drive out of Sutton Courtenay on the B4016 towards Appleford the pits will be on your left.
Just before you drive under the pylons, take the single track road on the left.
There are pull-ins to park and view from or you can park up and walk along the track.
The vegetation is becoming increasingly high and birds can be distant so a scope would be useful.
