Blenheim 14th November

Great white egret - 2 appeared briefly together this afternoon before heading over the Great Lake. The first I've seen at Blenheim this month. The deepening of the Queen Pool so far has left little suitable feeding area for them and they are far less frequent now.

Little egret - 1. Very few of these over the past few weeks probably for similar reasons.

Yellow-legged gull - 1 adult

Lesser black-backed gull - 2 (the one in the photo below has a green ring but too distant to get any of the number.)

The wooden jetty at the north end of the Queen Pool has now been demolished so the gulls have had to find other loafing spots on the idle machinery.

Snipe - 3
