Fields north-west of Begbroke and edge of Bladon Heath woodland Black Kite: One flying over fields and settling on hedgerow trees for about 10 minutes, mobbed by rooks. Eventually flew away west over Bladon Heath woodland. Photos to follow. SP469145. 07:40.
This bird probably flew over my Yarnton garden yesterday (3rd May) lunchtime. I didn't get great views, or see it through optics, but a large raptor flew over being vigorously mobbed by 2 crows heading NW towards Spring Hill/Bladon Heath. The best view I had was as it flew away from me but having put it down as a red Kite I thought to myself that it didn't seem right for one. Nick Suckling
