Otmoor AM 25 August

2 common crane (both ringed) on Big Otmoor 8.45-10am, then took off circling higher & higher away over Ashgrave towards Beckley before drifting back & descending towards Greenaways. Seen again at 11am over Greenaways circling higher & higher until beyond MOD land, before drifting back down towards main reedbeds. Testing winds at altitude in preparation for departure?

Turnstone: juv. Along the causeway.
Dunlin: Along the causeway.
Peregrine: juv. Landed on the bank of F1 and was investigated by two Carrion Crows . The young falcon was nervous of them and very apprehensive. Finally it flew off heading west ay 12:00.
Common Sandpiper: Along the causeway.
Yellow-legged Gull: ad. Finally perched on a buoy to confirm ID.
