Blenheim 13th June
Work has now begun to dig out the Queen Pool. There are a number of active nests on and around the lake so hopefully care will be taken to limit disturbance.
5 adult cattle egret were on the island this morning, some now tending to young.
There are at least a dozen fledged little egrets on the island and venturing the edges of the Queen Pool to feed.
2 oystercatchers are still present.
2 common tern feeding on the Great Lake.
The bird on the right is more advanced with an entirely yellow bill compared to the one on the left. Three are visible and I think there may be more still on nests deeper in the vegetation. Great to see.
