Whimbrel: Flew in. Bathed. Scared off by squabbling geese but looked to land in Thames field. 14:48.Greenshank: Flew in calling c2 30pm.
As with whimbrel, new passage birds or recent individuals re appearing? 14:48.
Caspian Gull: 1s. Lingering bird. Attacked by red kite for possession of a drinking rock. 14:48.
2 Hobby: Hawking. 14:48.
Shelduck: The same Male and female. Plus usual redshank and common sands. 14:48.

Sparrowhawk: m. I filmed a Male eating a swift on causeway. Last year, I noticed a Male specialised in sneaking along causeway hunting passage passerines and waders. Same bird? Newton notes swift as prey species albeit an uncommon one. 21:14.

Confirms the presence of two birds present on the reserve currently.
One winter plumage on the Closes with Greenshanks One summer plumage bird in front of hide. 08:12.
