Farmoor Little Gulls

An excellent early spring Little Gull passage this year with birds present in varying numbers every day over the last fortnight. Difficult to estimate numbers as birds are seen to come and go, but 16 yesterday evening was perhaps the highest count so far.

Today there was a maximum of eleven present, mostly stunning breeding plumaged adults (top & middle). The lower bird shows signs of immaturity; some black markings in the primaries, and is perhaps second summer, or even third summer.

Pied Flycatcher (male) still in small copse near the zig-zag path
to the west of F2 this morning 07:30.

Last seen c10:10a.m when it flew to willows between the zig-zag path
and the river c10:10 (per Jon Prowse & Andy Shirley)

Redstart (male) near ziz-zag path still at 12:43 (John Hilsdon)

Pied Flycatcher Farmoor 14th April

Continuing with the recent run of rare
& scarce birds in the county,
Terry Sherlock discovered a superb male
Pied Flycatcher along the western side
of F2 near the Pump House.
The black & white stunner was
still present until at least 18:40

to the west of F2
