Some light gull relief.

Caspian Gulls with varying degrees of niceness.

One gorgeous juv/1st w looked textbook, a couple less so and two more with obvious mixed parentage. Indeed, a colour-ringed bird (yellow X480) was from a mixed colony near Leipzig in eastern Germany. It did, however, look pretty good from some angles.

This striking individual certainly behaved and sounded like a Cachinnans.

(Pills for nausea are available from most good pharmacies.)

Otmoor late September

Had a fantastic walk around the perimeter of the reserve Saturday afternoon. They were cutting hay in the field opposite Lower Farm, Noke, creating an unmissable feeding opportunity for the Red Kites. We counted 23 at one time. An amazing sight, and to have such a close view of the Kites as they plucked the unfortunate field mice and voles from the field was a rare experience for us.
