the one pictured is carrying a PIT tag on its right leg ( a glass enclosed barcode chip, cased in black plastic) used by the EGI Oxford University at nearby Wytham Woods to record the movements of the tit in Wytham Woods

The Marsh Tit is carrying a PIT tag from Wytham Woods, not a colour ring.
