Allen Pit Dorchester 8th February

FERRUGINOUS DUCK (male) on the Allen Pit, Dorchester (per Geoff Wyatt). 

Still present 16:17 (per Peter Law) and actively diving after having spent a couple of hours asleep

Viewable and accessible from the track that runs along the Eastern edge of the lake. SU 573943. Although this is not a public right of way access has been kindly granted by the owner. Approach can be made from the south either via Dorchester or Days Lock. The bird is elusive along the east side of the pit.
