Common tern - 5 (2 adults, 3 young). A pair nested on an old coot nest and have hatched 3 young which are about 2 weeks old now. I believe probably the first breeding record at this site. Thanks to their hardworking parents they have so far avoided falling prey to the lurking gulls, kites, buzzards, herons, egrets, etc...
Reed Warbler - 1
Spotted Flycatcher - 2
By way of an update on the Cattle Egrets at Blenheim, I don't believe there have been any fledged young yet. They have been very hard to try and monitor this year. There have certainly been attempts but I think the initial pairs may have failed. I am still confident we may get some success.
