Whilst it is great to see rare and unusual birds and to hear about them I submit the humble Mallard which like many species we take for granted and often only look at casually in our search for the out of the ordinary is, when looked at closely, a thing of great beauty as are most of the bird species we share this planet with and that enhance our lives
