These are pictures from yesterday, Saturday. Apologies for the late posting - we were doing a Big Day!
Top 3 pictures, 1st winter Little Gull at Dix Pit. Also another, or the same bird, at Rushy Common.
Bottom picture, male Ring Ouzel at Linkey Down (honest!). The full write up of the day is here.
Tom Bedford, Andy Last, Dave Lowe.
Well done for a terrific effort. Late April is taking a big chance in my experience. When we were doing it in the 90's , the end of the first week in May was felt to be the best bet. I think our best score was around 110, but the year we (Lew, Paul Chandler, Martin Hallam and Myself) did 24 hours on Otmoor on foot was the most memorable. I think we got 99, Lew may remember better.
ReplyDeleteThank you Peter. If only we had done it one day later, our April gamble would have paid off! 99 species on Otmoor on foot is remarkable - as is spending 24 hours on the reserve!
DeleteTo be honest Tom I'm still quite shaken, I gave the vehicle registration to the police.

DeleteRunning you over was the only way we were going to beat your team Mark! Congratulations on a superb total - it would be good to read your team's version of events (the Big Day, not nearly killing you on the road to Beckley!).
