Hi Trudi, all of the Green Sandpipers were on the southern most pit (the closest one to Appleford). If you park on the bend by the two large padlocked gates, you can view that pit, you'll need a scope though as they are fairly distant. I've often seen them on the main pit too.
When I get to the iron gates with warning guard dogs on patrol where do I go please? I've been over twice now and can't get to lake. Would you mind texting me info please my number is 07414643627 thank you for your help
As above I would be really grateful if someone could tell me how to get a view of Appleford GPS. After driving around Appleford unsuccessfully after work in Didcot yesterday I walked almost 4 miles trying to find a raised footpath from which to view the main pit! I did see the gates but they looked rather unwelcoming so I drove to Sutton Courtenay and followed the public footpaths from there but to no avail! I could see footpaths marked on my walking app on my phone but they didn't appear to be accessible. I did notice the single track road (with height restrictive barrier) so I had a look down there on the way home, but still couldn't see anywhere to walk. Could anyone enlighten me, I'd be very grateful! Thank you! Anna
I was there yesterday but never saw a Green sandpiper. Please can you tell me where you saw it? Thanks Trudi
