Adult Baltic-type gull - adults currently are not considered by BBRC but latest guidance e.g. in Princeton Gulls of Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East suggests that dark-mantled birds which have yet to start or have arrested primary moult at P1/2 in September/October are most likely nominate fuscus. Individuals with extreme structure (small-bodied, small-headed and with attenuated rear end) like this candidate support the identification. Ringing recoveries and satellite tracking data suggest a small but significant proportion of Baltic Gulls move west in autumn through Europe rather than straight south through the Middle East.
