North of Goring, around midday Thursday 16th
A very quick scan of the open fields near South Stoke showed around 1200 Common Gulls present, mainly in one massive flock in flight and hundreds more feeding across or loafing in the fields. These birds are heading South along the Thames Valley towards late afternoon, presumably heading to roost on flooded gravel pits nearer Reading (?).
