An excellent early spring Little Gull passage this year with birds present in varying numbers every day over the last fortnight. Difficult to estimate numbers as birds are seen to come and go, but 16 yesterday evening was perhaps the highest count so far.
Today there was a maximum of eleven present, mostly stunning breeding plumaged adults (top & middle). The lower bird shows signs of immaturity; some black markings in the primaries, and is perhaps second summer, or even third summer.
Great pictures Nic
ReplyDeleteI reckon there were 13 at around 6:30 this evening but probably no more than 7 by the time I left.
Minimium of 6 Common Tern also
