  1. Are Avocets kept in captivity? For a duck I can understand the link between being ringed and assuming it's an escapee but I'm somewhat surprised about this for an Avocet. I would be interested to hear what others might think.

    1. Hi Adam. Yes. Avocets are regularly kept in captivity. Slimbridge has them among other places.
      This twitter link says that the aviary at Bristol zoo holding the avocets collapsed under snow recently so they probably escaped from there?
