The lake has been turned into an activity centre so viewing is a lot more difficult than it used to be. There is a permitted path c.50m beyond the main gate. Go through there and then look through the fence. Bird was towards the left end of the lake. There is open swimming on new years day so don't know how that will affect viewing (and the bird). There's signs saying no parking along the road. Not really a problem if the centre is closed. Further down the road to the marina there is space for 3 cars. Walk back from there. Alternatively park on resident stre

Alternatively park on resident streets in Caversham and walk down.
